Be not surprised having
seen a cut on the top surfaces of a round log or an oval-flatten
(a semioval log) . It is a special technological cut, allowing
to operate process of formation of cracks in a log.
What is a technique principle?
If it is impossible to avoid formation of cracks in drying out logs,
there is a problem of control of occurrence of these cracks. It
is better, if cracks (or the deepest ones of them) are directed
upwards, because there they will be covered by a groove of the top
log. Thus the moisture will not get to cracks, "cold bridges"
will not be formed, there will be no other negative processes for
the tree and the house.
The technological unloading
cut is made for setting the direction of formation of cracks cut
in the top part of a log with depth about third of diameter of a
log. Cut allows to unload a log (internal and external pressure)
and to specify a demanded direction of a concentration of efforts
of the internal forces inevitably arising in a log as a result of
drying and pressure of the top logs.
Cut is made along all
surface of a log except visible zones (near the end faces, notches,
